The small temple could hardly handle the crowd of devotees, rising over the years and on traditional festival days. Originally called the Palanisami Temple, the temple was founded by American-born Hindu monk, Sivaya Subramuniya Swami to better serve the Hindu community, which, due to rapid growth, was moved to its current location in. The temple was originally established in a small wood framed house in San Francisco, California, way back in 1957, by an American born Hindu guru, Sivaya SubramuniyaSwami.
